On 26 January every year the Lions Club of Bull Creek celebrates Australia Day by hosting a free breakfast for hundreds of local residents at John Creaney Reserve, Bullcreek. In recent years the City of Melville has joined in this event and now hosts its annual citizenship ceremony in conjunction with the breakfast.

The day starts with breakfast from 8.30 am, a flag-raising ceremony by the Bullcreek-Leeming Scouts at 9.00 am (with the Guard of Honour Inspection by the Mayor), a citizenship ceremony from 9.15 am and the Australia Day Awards presentation starting about 9.40 am. Other event highlights include face-painting, the Leeming Band, and local Scouts and Girl Guides groups. The breakfast attracts hundreds of local residents.

The Lions Club of Bulll Creek raises thousands of dollars of funds each year for the various Lions Foundations (see more details about these Foundations on and supports local community groups and schools in the Bullcreek area. The Club feels that the Australia Day Breakfast is its way of saying "thank you" to the Bullcreek community as well as celebrating a milestone event in Australia‚Äôs history.

For 15 years, Anne and Miro Strk, proprietors of the Bull Creek IGA Supermarket, supplied fresh produce for the breakfast BBQ. In recognition of their wonderful contribution to the Australia Day Breakfast and the Bull Creek community, Anne and Miro received Lions Australia's highest award - the James Richardson Honour Award - at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Bull Creek Lions in May 2010. Anne and Miro are shown below.
